Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church is committed to helping our youth develop a solid faith foundation rooted in Catholic principles and traditions. We offer a variety of educational programs that address the faith formation needs of our parish youth. While students who attend Nativity of Our Lord Catholic School learn these faith principles as part of the school's academic curriculum, children enrolled in other educational settings are invited to weekly catechesis through Nativity's Department of Faith Formation.
The usual progression through Nativity's Faith Formation begins in first grade with weekly catechesis and continues through eighth-grade Confirmation. Students in second grade receive additional sacramental preparation for their First Reconciliation and First Communion, and students in seventh grade receive additional sacramental preparation for their Confirmation as eighth graders. Eighth grade does not include weekly classes but instead offers several events for prayer and faith sharing as a team.
Some students may find themselves a bit outside the normal sacramental progression, especially if they transfer from a parish that offers the sacraments at different ages (e.g. Confirmation in high school). Please don't hesitate to contact the faith formation director to form a plan for your student to receive the sacraments.
Some Nativity of Our Lord parishioners may homeschool their children or enroll them in other forms of catechesis and then register their child for the sacraments only (second-grade First Reconciliation/Communion or eighth-grade Confirmation). This is possible, and you will see that option on the registration form below, but please note that our Archdiocese REQUIRES that these students FIRST contact the Director of Faith Formation for approval and participate in a few required sacramental preparation sessions. Your child will not be registered for the sacraments until you have made contact with the Faith Formation Director.
No student will be denied Catholic faith formation for financial reasons. If you need financial assistance, please contact the Faith Formation Department.
Wednesday Night Sessions (grades 1, 3, 4, 5, & 6): $50 per student
GRADE 2: First Reconciliation/Communion Preparation: $80 per student
GRADE 7: Confirmation Preparation: $80 per student
GRADE 8: Confirmation Sacrament: no fee
Faith Tutoring
The parish offers special tutoring for children who have not received the Sacraments at the traditional age or grade level. Children with special needs who are more comfortable receiving personalized instruction in a smaller group also may benefit from faith tutoring.
