Adoration is a great gift of God himself to the Church, and we are blessed to offer this great devotion here at Nativity of Our Lord, even as it must be limited during COVID-19 restrictions.
This unique opportunity to "adore" Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament — exposed, if you will, in the monstrance (the ornate gold display stand) — requires that someone be present in the church at all times while Adoration is occurring.
If, while at Adoration, you have to leave and no one else is in the church, the Blessed Sacrament must be "reposed," and the pastor has delegated all parishioners and visitors the permission to do so.
Simply remove the "luna" (the glass enclosure containing the Eucharistic Host) from the monstrance, rotate it ninety degrees, and place it in the small tabernacle behind the main altar with a key in it.
A simple prayer out loud like "All praise to you, Lord Jesus" is fitting as you close the tabernacle door. (You can leave all the candles and lights lit.)
If Jesus is not in the monstrance when you arrive, the pastor has also delegated all parishioners and visitors the permission to expose the Blessed Sacrament. Simply open the small tabernacle behind the altar with a key in it, place the Blessed Sacrament in the monstrance, perhaps with a simple prayer such as "We adore you, Lord Jesus," and rotate the monstrance to face the pews.
