Family Corner Spring Sundays are an especially lovely time to be together. This month, the archdiocese invites us in a particular way to Reclaim our Sundays by seeing springtime moments as opportunities to pray for and with those immediately around us, our community. Go to the Reclaiming Our Sundays Monthly Guide to think about these suggested activities for a Sunday afternoon-- or any day-- with the family, the grandchildren, or the neighbors:
Walk around your neighborhood together, praying for those in each house you pass. Pray for those who serve your neighborhood (police, firefighters, local government, etc.).
Spend more time outside in the hopes of meeting more of your neighbors.
Start a small group of couples/families in your home. (Reach out to Nativity Small Group leaders for help.)
Host a community potluck (school community, neighborhood community, parish community).
Play games with the family.
Do a puzzle with a friend.
Engage in activities that connect us and resist the temptation to isolate.
Here at Nativity, consider joining an upcoming event and inviting a friend or neighbor:
Sunday Mass, donuts, or First Friday Fellowship.
The Tuesday morning Men’s Fellowship group.
The Mom’s Club Playdate at Mattock’s Park.
The Spring Bloodmobile.
A visit to the Adoration chapel or the outdoor statue of Mary.
We build community when we build the body of Christ. And we build a body of Christ when we build community. Even the smallest gesture of kindness, friendship, and fellowship can invite others to a closer walk with Jesus. Let our prayers in May be especially offered for the people with us each day!
