Our New Faith Formation Director in Her Own Words

To all that be in “Saint Paul,” beloved of God, called to be saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ” (see Romans 1:7).

I am Mahalia Marcelin, a servant of the Lord, serving as your Director of Faith Formation. It is an honor to serve Christ with you at Nativity of Our Lord.

Originally from Haiti, I moved to Florida about 15 years ago. I studied International Business and started a great career in the financial world. Then, in 2014, everything changed. I had a personal encounter with the Lord.

“Follow me,” he whispered in my heart.

Through a series of events, the Lord called me from the world and brought me to work for his kingdom. I left what I thought I wanted to follow God on an unknown but sacred path. With a humble and poor Fiat, I have been in the service of the Lord
since then.

I served the Archdiocese of Miami for over six years. I was a Coordinator for their Respect Life Ministry, then I worked as the Faith Formation Coordinator for the chancellor at his parish, Saint James Catholic Church. All glory and praise be
to God for working through me these past years.

Now, his will has led me to Nativity of Our Lord! I pray that his grace will continue to flow through me as we go forward. I want to assure you that I will do my best to be just an instrument at the mercy of his hands! May my leadership be one to foster faith, hope and love.

It has been such a joy to encounter each of you: clergy, staff, and parishioners. Thank you for welcoming me with love. I felt home when I thought I would be a stranger. So, from my heart to yours, thank you.

Humbly, I am asking for your prayers as I am taking on this mission in our community. I also want to assure you that I am praying for you already. I pray that God gives me the graces to lead this ministry with love.

May we grow closer to God as we keep our eyes on Jesus who is the author and perfecter of our faith (Hebrews 12:2).
