As you may know, beginning Monday, June 25 and continuing through early September, the upper church will be closed for maintenance. All liturgies, including Masses, Baptisms, and Funerals will be celebrated at standard times in Steiner Hall on the lower level (pictured). Confessions will be heard at standard times in portable confessionals in the Steiner Hall kitchen. The Adoration Chapel will remain open.
The church maintenance project will include pew restoration, hardwood floor stripping and staining, and lighting updates. The cost of the floor and pew restoration has been entirely funded through parishioner gifts specifically dedicated to these two projects. The cost of lighting upgrades has been funded, in part, by a generous estate gift from a Nativity parishioner as well as a significant rebate from Xcel Energy. The remaining portion of the lighting upgrade will be funded, for now, through the Nativity of Our Lord capital improvement budget. We anticipate that the substantial reduction in electricity costs along with improved maintenance efficiency will quickly generate savings to offset any immediate payments.
I am thankful beyond measure for the generosity of the Nativity donors who have given over and above their offertory contributions to help fund this summer maintenance project. Thank you for your kindness and sacrifice is supporting, protecting, and enhancing our beautiful worship space—both now and for generations to come. I am also appreciative of the flexibility and patience of all parishioners in moving with us to worship in Steiner Hall during this maintenance period. I look forward to providing bulletin and website updates through each stage of the project, and especially to the project’s beautiful conclusion at summer’s end.
May Christ’s blessings be upon you throughout the summer and always.
