What? Another Synod? We haven’t finished the one from 2022 yet!
Archbishop Hebda in his post-Synod 2022 pastoral letter You Will Be My Witnesses always planned a follow-up one-day Synod Assembly this year to consider the next priorities for several years beyond Year 3. Each parish is sending their pastor and two lay delegates to this Synod Assembly. Emily Meyer and Randall McClure will attend for Nativity.
Year 3 was originally to be focused on Parents as Primary Educators of Their Children. Due to its being a challenging cultural change, Archbishop Hebda has decided to allow two years for its implementation in parishes. It will now be the focus of Year 4. For Year 3, parishes will sharpen our focus on a theme from Year 2 on the Mass and the Eucharist, Reclaiming the Lord’s Day, while beginning to implement Year 4.
Jenni Maas and other parents have been added to the Nativity Synod Evangelization Team (SET) to lead the implementation of Years 3 and 4. The original members of our SET will be in a supportive role for Years 3 and 4 as well as continuing to build small groups and foster a deeper Eucharistic culture in the parish.
Upcoming Opportunities
Nativity parishioners are invited to participate in two events leading up to Pentecost, the birthday of the Church.
Please join Nativity of Our Lord in praying the Novena to the Holy Spirit as we invite the Holy Spirit to be even more active in the hearts of our parishioners and Archdiocesan Catholics.
